Fist Bump is a mobile application allowing users to handpick an instructor, ally, or friend to help the user become more familiar and comfortable before attending a fitness class for the first time.
OBJECTIVE: Identify and design an interesting way to empower and comfort millennials (ages 22–37) through a mobile application that speaks to a need and will support the user. The main purpose is for first-time fitness goers to feel more comfortable and at ease, before attempting to take a new fitness class they may not know much about.
After thinking about Fist Bump a little more I started to ask myself, how might we…
Create a better first-time experience for newcomers in a fitness class.
Make others feel comfortable in a new class.
Provide insight before a fitness class starts.
TIMELINE: 2.5 months
PROJECT ROLES: UX Designer, Visual Designer, InVision Pro, and Sketch Expert
TOOLS: Paper sketching, Sketch, Optimal Workshop, and InVision
USER INTERVIEWS: During my user interviews, several themes emerged, the number one being that users would feel more comfortable attending a new class with someone. This was the first thing each of the interviewees mentioned. Other themes included anxiety around not knowing much about a new class, wanting to know what to do in class so they are getting their money worth, and partnering with a friend as a support system.
Quotes from interviews:
“SO MUCH anxiety. I was terrified the first time I tried a yoga class but luckily I had a coworker with me!”
“It’s easier to try a new class with someone. It makes you feel like you have a support system.”
“Don’t like the feeling of spending $25 on a class just to watch others and not know what to do next.”
“I finally tried a new group fitness class, but only after asking questions to a few friends.”
PROBLEM STATEMENT: First-time fitness class goers need a way to connect with a mentor before attending class because they don’t feel at ease before and/or during class.
HYPOTHESIS/SOLUTION: We believe that by providing guidance and a friendly mentor for newcomers, we will dismiss the anxiety that comes with the idea of trying something new. We will know this to be true when more users download Fist Bump and visit multiple new fitness classes through the app.
USER FLOWS AND PAPER PROTOTYPING: First I mapped user flows for the homepage, mentor types, what’s an ally, your activity, and helpful videos. I then moved to paper prototypes and low fidelity wireframes to facilitate testing with users. After receiving feedback, recommended adjustments were made to make navigation more intuitive. I then expanded the prototype to include additional features that addressed other themes that had presented in our user interviews.
INVISION PROTOTYPE: Once I moved to InVision to create a clickable prototype we were further able to refine the user flow and added the ability to book classes with certain mentors and search classes nearby.
Condo Project Advisor (CPA) is a tool provided by Freddie Mac Loan Advisor® that enables authorized sellers to easily request exceptions for unit-level eligibility criteria in established condominium projects. These exceptions are necessary for condominium projects that require special review or examination.
Additionally, authorized sellers can use the tool to obtain feedback on a condo project's compliance with project review requirements through Project Assessment Requests (PARs) and receive PAR findings.
For the past three years, I have collaborated with the CPA team, offering UX insights and improving their user experience. Furthermore, our team has successfully transitioned the CPA team to Angular, utilizing our in-house Design System. I work collaboratively with CPA Product Owners, Developers, and Analysts team members to achieve business objectives and enhance design. With my extensive knowledge and understanding, I strive to improve the user experience and product design. I excel in delivering solutions by showcasing my design expertise and adhering to the Design System, UX standards, and best practices. I proactively identify challenges, facilitate design planning, and enhance the user experience across multiple applications. Additionally, I conduct development reviews with CPA to ensure the optimal implementation of design solutions.
Our most recent objective was to build the Project Certified status to streamline project underwriting for users. This includes reducing the documentation requirements for condo loans that receive a Project Certified PAR finding. As a result, there will be fewer project underwriting requirements to ensure compliance with the Single-Family Seller/Servicer Guide before selling the loan to Freddie Mac. This will save both time and money for you and your borrowers.
HITT was in need of a new way to share information throughout the company. The marketing department began collaborating with the IT department to brainstorm a solution. I immediately raised my hand to lead the charge with the chosen platform, Visix. I created a strategic plan, timeline, graphics, and content guidelines for all offices nationwide. I worked with Visix developers to craft a branded background design along with layouts for multiple screen formats. Lastly, I trained marketing team members on how to successfully use Visix. After our training, team members can now create custom graphics and messaging to upload to multiple screens in any office. I continue to deploy graphics and manage multiple office locations each day.

Vacation Mentor was a two-hour design sprint completed by a group of myself and three classmates.
SCENARIO: You have joined the UX design team at TripAdvisor, where each UX designer on the team owns one feature experience on the site. You own the “Saved Trips” feature experience, which gives users the ability to save specific TripAdvisor results (hotels, attractions, restaurants, flights, etc.) onto their “Saved Trips” page in their account. The goal of this feature is to help users organize their trip research in one place, making TripAdvisor a more efficient tool for travel planning rather than simply reviewing recommendations.
PROBLEM: Currently, there is no way for users to organize “Saved Trips” tiles into custom categories within a location (e.g., no way to categorize the Eiffel Tower and Luxembourg Gardens under a “Things to Do on Tuesday” list, although you can filter it via type on the map). Rather, all “Saved Trips” tiles are shown in the order in which they were saved. This results in a page of saved items that is not optimized for more specific trip planners. Based on user testing, TripAdvisor has noticed users coping with this lack of custom categorization by utilizing the “My Notes” section. Users have been adding notes to each saved tile as a “hacky” way to tag it as a particular category (below). This also suggests that users may not be noticing/using the existing category filter on the map.
OBJECTIVE: Help users manage and organize their saved trips tile list by creating custom categories for organization and allowing a filter to map by categories.
TIMELINE: 2 hours
PROJECT ROLES: UX Designer, Researcher, and Sketch Expert
TOOLS: Paper sketching and Sketch
PROBLEM STATEMENT: Vacation Mentor users are unable to organize their “Saved Trips” tiles.
Current pain-points include:
All saved trip tiles are shown in the order they were saved.
No way for users to organize tiles into customer categories within a location.
Users are not aware or able to find the existing “category” filter on the map.
HYPOTHESIS/SOLUTION: We believe that by providing a friendlier way for users to categorize trips, the user will feel more organized when planning their next trip.
Work hard, stay humble. This was the message behind the new company video for HITT. I knew that I wanted to run with the phrase and create something more edgy, more fresh, something different from all other competitors in the DC area. We began by discussing the budget, purpose, messaging, length, and timeline. Team members began storyboarding and the message came to life. Once all of the concrete details were presented, we began scripting and re-scripting to make sure we were crafting impact statements and inducing emotions through words. Once I decided on the key details, I began to establish a detailed schedule for each day of filming; this included specific locations around headquarters/construction job sites, timeframes for each location, and exact employees to be shown on screen. Aesthetics and imagery were crucial during the process, we wanted compelling visuals to match the voiceover/script. All details were effectively communicated to the videographers and we were excited to start filming. I acted as the creative director and provided insight and direction throughout the entire process. I supplied multiple rounds of edits in a clear and concise way so the videographers would know exactly what to edit. In the end, the video met its goal. It’s something edgy, fresh, and sets HITT apart. HITT plans to use this video for recruiting purposes and to explain who we are to clients.

A client approached me with an idea for an outdoor brand that would illustrate the adventures of her family after their move to a new location. Their new stomping grounds were centered around creativity and bright colors. This inspired them to get outside and contribute to the creative surroundings and so An Hour Out was born. I started by creating two mood boards for the client. I provided different options so I’m able to evaluate what the client likes/dislikes, then listen to their feedback and make the necessary edits. I choose bright and bold shapes to represent the creative location along with daring typography to differentiate their brand. Icons were a large part of this branding as well. I hand drew icons to tie into the outdoor feeling.

I’ve designed branded collateral for project teams to distribute at client interviews. With strong knowledge in InDesign, I’ve created multiple templates and designs over the years. Each includes master pages, paragraph styles, character styles, multiple layouts, and overall formatting.
It’s important that I follow the strict brand standards of the company that were created while striving to update the collateral to feel new and refreshing.

Throughout the years I’ve created countless email blast designs. I enjoy building the ultimate layout and working to develop the graphics. I look at each email blast as a puzzle, it’s important to find the perfect space for each piece. I strive to stay within the company standards/campaign limits, yet think outside of the box to put an interesting spin on the graphics. Sometimes, this means sketching hand-drawn graphics for a specific audience or working with bright colors/shapes to grab a viewer’s attention. Attention to detail is key. Email blasts are external and speak on behalf of the company.
